it was a c clip but i did not even need to take it off i just needed to tap the shaft a little to break it loose
it got to be the starter i can see on the winding where it shorted out. glad i am in electical trade school or i would have never noticed that thanks alot for all the help

hey man dont be sorry if having quads was easy all the time everybody would have them

 

your bendix might be messed up, i had the same problem.i took my raptor to be serviced and the mechanic said the bendix wasnt kicking in.
