Default Raptor not turning over???? Help

you want to try the least expensive route first,,,try putting the battery on a trickle charge first

if it still wont start, then remove the starter,,,and with a set of jumper cables, and a good 12v battery attach the cables to their prospective leads

if the starter enguages, then you eliminated your starter as a problem

next try the same thing with your now recharged bike battery,,,,if the starter enguages again,,,,then its your selinoid,,,if it doesnt enguage,,,its a bad battery

Default Raptor not turning over???? Help

i did forget one thing,,,,if your terminals on your battery,or selinoid are corroded, this may be causing a problem with not enough juice reaching the starter

Default Raptor not turning over???? Help

did you try tapping the starter with a wooden handle on a hammer while trying to start it?

if it feels like its spinning,it may just not be engaging

the way a starter works is when you hit your start button,it creates a path of current to the relay,,,which inturn sends a shot of current to the selinoid,,,the selinoid converts electrical energy to mechanical energy by creating a magnetic field, which actuates the bendix in the starter to engage the flywheel, barring the engine over,,,,,if the bendix is stuck, its basically just spinning in the starter housing, and not engaging the fly wheel,,,hense not starting your bike

if tapping the starter releases the bendix, then you will have to pull the starter off, break it down, and clean it out

usually when this happens, its caused by the residue from the carbon brush's,which means they may also need replaced
