I've had no problems yet but havent been to the dunes yet either..... Isnt this the symptom of the faulty fuel pump??

This is the first negative comments I have heard so far about the 700r. Please keep us informed, I would like to know if and how you get this resolved. I have only 4.5 hours on mine so i am unable to comment as yet...

it is the fuel pump. i had it at the dunes saterday. after 4 hours of riding i stoped it at the camp and couldn't start it again. i took off the fuel hose and turned on the key just to see that no fuel was being pumped. it sounded as if the fuel pump was pressurizing but no fuel was being pumped. i let the bike cool down for 30-45 minutes and went riding for about 2 hours after that again with no problems. i have had the bike since the beginning of august and besides the fuel pump not working good the bike has performed really good in my opinion. i am also looking into buying a trinity IV fuel programmer or a DYNOjet powercommander usb for it.

Thanks for the feedback I will keep it in mind for the future. This YFI stuff is a bit harder to trouble shoot than carb stuff.

Ditto what quadbike said. I just put my first 2 hours on mine today after work. DAMN! was it a blast. I really haven't ridden anything else to compare it to but when I road my friends modded 400ex I could feel the difference. Power Power Power and I haven't even opened up yet. I was only riding around at about 1/2 throttle with a couple 3/4 throttle shots mixed in. It must be a RUSH to peg the throttle and run throught the gears. One thing I did notice right away is that it is extremly stable while make turns and powersliding. Even when power sliding over small rutts. What a blast.
I'll probably be sore tomorrow after all that love making I was making with that 700 today.

I cant think of any reasons heat would cause a fuel pump to have problems especialy since it lives in the fuel tank. Does anyone know the reason the pumps are failing. I thought all the faulty ones were recalled by Yamaha.

Thank you all for the lesson on FI -vs- Carbs. Back to the original Subject. Yes, I just picked up my 2006 Raptor 700R this past Thursday. I would like to give out some information. Anyone close to California or living in California who is thinking about buying a 700R or any motorcycle or ATV do yourself a favor and check out the prices at Out The Door Motor Sports They have some kick *** prices. Sacramento is not the smallest of town but you cannot touch a 700R for less then 8k out the door around here. I was paying cash and the lowest I could get my local dealers around here was 8,200.00 on a cash purchase. I picked my up 700R, 4 year extended factory warranty, all the GYT-R underside skids and Air filter kit and a killer cable to lock it up for approx. 8,100.00. The Quad was 7,299.00 Out The Door. Great deal for me except I had to drive 12 hours round trip to Los Angeles. Saving almost 1k though motivated me to make the trip. lol. Now the fun part of breaking it in the right way. Thanks to you guys who already own them for letting us know how much fun we are going to have. Oh, if I would have waited another week I could have driven a 4 hour round trip for the same price but I couldn't wait.

Any of you guys know where I can purchase shock covers for my 700R? Thanks for your time.
Hey buddy, congrats on the new Rappy. I've got almost 80 hrs on mine now with no problems, and having a blast. How do you like the GYTR skid plates? I heard somewhere that they were a little too bendable, looking for a little input before jumping into them myself. Thanks.

I rode/raced with a 700r yesterday I didn't think they were all that. We rode threw the woods trails and at times it couldn't even stay ujp with me and i have to slow down for alot of turns b/c my bike is wider. I drag raced him to in the sand and i beat him 5 out of 6 times i could have had him the 6th time but i shift to late. I wounder if there a better quad for dune running
