Default Decisions Decisions.... I need help!!!!

Ok, the time has come for an exhaust for the 660. I am going with the Dr. D and I was wanting to ask some questions. Should I go with a Pro Flow K&N Filter or just the drop in K&N filter that fits in stock air box??? Whats the differences and advantages??? And also, should I run without a lid or cut holes in the lid. I was thinking about running the outerwear and cutting 1 inch holes in the box, maybe like 4 of them on the lid???? I am also getting a K&N Jet Kit. I am letting a dealer install it all, just was wonderin about the air filters??? Thanks

I have tried them all the k&n in the stock box the powerlid and now the pro design pro flow I would go with the pro design unless you ride in the mud and water. I ride in sometimes wet conditions but when I see a puddle coming I slow down I don't like getting wet anyways. The advantage is the most air you can get while still using the air box. I believe someone has made an outerwear that goes over your air box now that will keep some of the mud and water out of your filter if you do ride in wet conditions. Hope this helps

You'll get the most out of your pipe if you go with the Pro-Flow and ditch the lid. A drop in K&N, even with holes in the lid/box, won't flow as well. I run without the lid and even in some mud and its just fine. Just don't go playing submarine.
BTW, the K&N Pro-flow comes with an outerwears cover.

Ok so, I ride in mainly sandy conditions. Sometimes I will play in the mud but it is in no way MUD MUD. Just enough to throw it around a little bit. So, I will go with the Pro Flow and ditch the lid but there is a hose that hooks into the snorkel area of the lid, do I just let it hang????? And also, when I take everything to do the dealer, do I just tell them to jet it and everything where the lid is off???

K&N makes a filter for the crankcase vent you'll have to pick one up or a pcv valve I didn't have to much luck finding a pcv valve that would fit though.

Its K&N part #62-1000 just ask your local parts guy for a crankcase breather filter, I'm sure someone other than K&N makes them and yeh the hose just slips over the filter stem.

Uni also makes a crankcase breather filter part #UP103. Go to www.chaparralmotorsports.com and type 314-9852 in their search engine...............
