Should I do it??????

I am little confused right now and need some input. I currently have a 99 Banshee with FMF pipes, and a K&N filter. I live in Texas and there is not a whole lot of places to go down here and get it wide open like a banshee is suppose to be ran. I want to use the quad mostly for riding on MX tracks and occasional trail riding. If I keep the banshee it is going to take alot of money to make it the way I want (axle, shocks, a-arms, etc...)I'm thinking...should I sell it and buy a 250r or should I keep it and drop some cash into it? This guy made me an offer to trade his bone stock 250r + $1,500 for my banshee...should I do it? I like catching major air...but the banshee is kind of hard to do unless I spend some cash! Any suggestions would help!

I was offered $5,300 for my banshee yesterday and I'm still undecided what I should do? I Love it to death but I would rather have something that is lighter, smaller, and easier to handle...such as a 250r. I have found some 250r's pretty cheap ($2,500) bone stock. With the extra cash I have from my banshee I could fix up the R pretty good! Any replies would be appreciated.

I personally would go for the R. As you mentioned you want a lighter quad. Not to mention you'll be getting a small piece of quad history. On the R's plus side you only have 1 cylinder and 1 carb. This equals less parts, less downtime and will save you money if repairs need to be done.
From my past experiences Honda parts are cheaper than Yamaha. Especially from the dealer. I'm not big into modifying anything from the factory so I know nothing about after market hop up goodies prices.

It's all what you want. Any sport quad can be made into an MX machine with the right mods. Depending on the shape of the R that your looking at would be the key. You can plan on spending appx. $2500 for the mods that you are looking at, and that's not including motorwork, or any nic nacs and other parts that may be worn out on the R. However, I still like a 2-stroke 250cc quad over the Banshee in the MX department. I'm not putting the Banshee down, cause it is a good quad, but I feel that the 250R is a little easier to handle around a MX track, and has a more usable powerband. Besides, who really gets tapped out in 6th gear on the track anyway? Just my opinion, but it's a tough decision.

I don't know if you have more than one person offering you a trade for your Banshee, but if somebody has offered you an R anywhere near the condition mine is in + 1500 cash you should take it. Here in Tucson, you can pick up 98-00 Banshees around 4000 to 4500. Good luck.
