Default Raptor 700R Weekend Races

Got to do a little racing this weekend with the Raptor 700R. I love this bike more everytime I ride it. First gear is a little short, but once you hit second and up it feels like your riding a rocket that just don't stop pulling. But where you really have fun is on the trails, the handling is the best. There wasn't a lot of competition this weekend, and I raced several bikes that I won't even mention because they weren't even what I would consider competition. I just did it because some folks just wanted to race. Again, not trying to hurt anyone's feelings, or trash on your bike. So if you get offended by hearing someone outran a type of quad that you own, just stop reading now, and go back to your crib. I'm just posting this because I got several requests from forum members wanting to know how it did in a race. Personally I don't believe that drag races count for very much, nor do I believe top speed is what makes a quad a good bike. But this is how it turned out. Again, you can't measure rider skill. And who knows what happens with different riders.

KFX 400, honda 400, both piped and jetted - I won off the line, beat both of them by about 10 or 15 bike lengths over a half mile. Raced several times, same results.

660 stock, 660 piped and jetted w/airbox mod, beet both off the line, beat the modded bike by about 5 or 6 bike lengths the stock by about 9 or 10 bike lengths.

YFZ 450 piped and jetted, and honda 450 piped and jetted, beat the honda off the line, the YFZ had me by almost a bike length untill third gear, slowly caught up and won by about 2 bike lengths, beat the honda by about 5 or 6 bike lengths.

YFZ 450 heavily modded (don't know exactly what engine work was done, but he said it was a lot.) piped jetted, airbox mod., he won off the line, and steadily left me. He won by about 5 or 6 bike lengths.

Sorry weren't any 686 to play with.

Couldn't find anyone to hang with me on the trail sections. Even the heavily modded YFZ didn't stay close. then again he wasn't used to riding trails

Hey greenbeast how is the gearing? Most bikes are geared a little tall for most trail riding. Will the front end come up as easy as the 660?

Gearing is very short in first, but very good from second on. And like the 660, it handles short shifting very well. The front doesnt rise near as easy as the 660, it will however still wheelie really easily when you want it to, and will do it in first second and third.

its supposed to be geared al ittle similar to the yfz... if your's is stock i highly doubt you beat a modded yfz that bad... honestly any quad that stock is usually restricted badly so but could be a lot in rider and you can ride pretty well... great info tho...

Mine is stock, I'm running it without the airbox. And I did beat a yfz w/pipe jetted, twice to be exact. I'm not too proud to admit it if I get my a** handed to me. Like I said, it very well could come down to rider experience, and for what environment a bike is tuned for. All this top speed stuff is kinda pointless to me, because of the places I normally ride. Don't get me wrong, it's still fun to haul a** across an open field every now and then. My suggestion is buy the bike that feels right to you, and where you'll be riding it.

yeah, I always check out the other guys bikes pretty well, just out of curiosity, and wanting to know how each mod changed the bike. personally I believe the fellow on the YFZ piped and jetted that I did beat might have been shifting a little to soon, but onlookers said it sounded about right to them, but I couldn't say for sure.
