I use a velcro strap around the front brake lever. Reusable.

I was thinking about an early Kodiak ,before they came with the park incorporated with the shifter. What did they have for a park brake then?Maybe it's as easy as a new lever.Anyways, thanks for the input.
Where I ride you can spend alot of time doing quick stops on hilly terrain. After a snow fall or storm you usually have to clear the trails....I could see putting it in park every time would become a pain.

Two weeks more til I get the new machines!!!I believe they get to the dealer tomorrow.yehaa!!

Ugly88,You will soon forget the wolverine after a few blasts with a prarie.Install a set of springs on the front struts and the thing is awesome.I will miss it....Someones coming to look at the TP friday night and it sounds like it's going away before I have the chance to pick,oh well it's always a good day if your buying a atv!!!m/m.

As for the parking brake. You can buy one from the dealer for about $13.00. It is a direct fit and you can do it yourself.

It's the spring load spacer that is used for the rear hand parking brake. They quit putting them on the 2005 models. The dealer will have them. Tell them to look at the 04's kodiaks.

KodiakBrother that is very interesting. Wonder why no one else knew of that but thank you if thats the answer. Sounds to easy Can you or someone else get us a part #? So we don't have to disassemble anything to put this on the lever or how does it work? Wonder why they stopped putting them on the 05. Can anyone confirm they have the brake lever lock on the 04 and earlier models of the kodiak?

Copy this link and the part is #3 Lever Lock. Not sure what the part number is. It should only take a minute or two. Very simple.

Thanks alot KodiakBrother! It looks like it came on the kodiak 400's but not the 450's. Looks like it still should fit though...If so I will be very happy!

KodiakBrother,
Thanks, that is the missing link to my quest for perfection!!!
I'm off to the Yami dealer today and I'll post the part number when i get it.

These forums are so cool,in the old days you would have to **** off the parts guys with your"stupid questions" while the line up of people would form behind you at the parts counter,LOL!!!
Now i'll go to the parts counter and teach them, luv'n'it!!!

BTW,for those parts guys that read this, this a general statement not directed and anyone person.
