Default YFZ450 mods: Is GYT-R the way to go or elsewhere?

After some thought, I think I'm getting a used 04 YFZ450 instead of waiting for the new one (pending an answer on compability with the 06 seat). Any riders have knowledge or experience with the best power mods? Yamaha offers the GYT-R pipe and jetting mods. do they give the best results for the buck or is there an outside company like FMF or Pro-Circuit that does it better?

The Gyt-R jetting mods work great, but id stay away from the pipe. There are many other pipes out there better than the Gytr- pipe.

Try Yoshimura, Dr.D, Curtis Sparks, and HMF.

yeah. I went to CT Racing. That dyno looks really impressive: 33HP to 48HP. Ofcourse, they get 48 doing things I probably wouldn't do like leaving the air box lid off and using all sixteen discs which makes 101 decibles. I'm not sure how that compares to a 2 stroke but that sounds kinda loud. Heck, I'd thrilled to get the HP from 33 to 40...nevermind 48!

Those pipes are kinda pricey though. Maybe I'm just used to 2 stroke pipes being cheaper.

There's defenatly better pipes out there and for a cheaper price too. Even though GYTR isn't that bad...

By that, I think you are better off with a slip-on. The stock headpipe is already good, and with just a slip-on you be gaining good HP #'s. Good luck!

By the way, my Dr. D was $230.

Regarding the seat, you could add foam to it to make for comfortable and stand higher.

with the ct kit you are getting a new either k&n or proflow foam filter and adapter plate and jets as well. 101 db is pretty loud tho.
