Default 700r performance

Have been reading all the reports on the 700r and find some of it hard to believe. Had the chance today to find out for myself. 700r stock with baffle removed, rider mick 320pounds. 660r full graydon exhaust, jetted,KN, no lid, rider jezza 260 pounds. Me DS650 endcap,KN,jetted,no lid and 250pounds and micks wife stock banshee( better not guess weight). Lined them up in sand, perfect conditions, 6000rpm 2nd gear start and had them all until 3rd gear then the 700r past me and beat me by about 10 bike lenghts. Could not believe it so we tried again and this time same result and it was about 6 bike lengths in front. These drags were over long distance( I pulled 7500RPM in 5th) Normally our buddy with his YFZ450 is creaming us like this and he is about 200 pounds, but he has sold his bike and is waiting on his new 06 450 to be finished(next weekend) These 700s do go real good and we all swapped bikes and were all impressed. Time to finish my 730 I think!!

Yeah, you go work on that 730, because I don't think the usual bolt-ons are going to cut it with the new 700R. I'm looking foward to racing one.

I did race one of the 700 raptors today at the dunes and although it wasnt even close to my 690 it was way faster than a stock 660 raptor. We raced on sand 300 feet long and uphill and the one thing that impressed me was the way the 700 left off the line,it was fast.I think that the 700 with a pipe and just a few bolt ons is going to be a very fast quad.If i get a chance to race a 700 that is piped and has some mods i will report the results because i am sure there are many that are curious.Just the addition of fuel injection will make quite a difference as compared to the 660 but how the fuel injection will work with a highly modified motor remains to be seen.

yeah, i dont think the standard bore 660 is gonna do it. MAybe the high comp. or the cammed rappys. Do they still run a single cam setup? If the 450 is getting bumped up to a true 450, then that should be something to keep your eye on imo too.

I wonder to umm that will be interesting but they didnt do all that much much to the engine in the 2006 cause they uped 10cc which is not alot. Then for some reason lowered the comp to 11.4 when it was at 11.9 am thinkin it may help for a quad length if that but i dunno not that much of a egine dude, just some one who will say sumtin when he sees it so i guess ill be waitin to see.

Throw a new piston and cam in, pipe it, then see what it does, those are cheap mods, it still may not be as fast as a ported 690, but for a few bones you can make it close.

my words exactly. throw a high-comp. piston and a cam in it and watch it scream. Now all thats left is head porting.

I think I'd settle for the cam and piston and bypass the porting, I'd like to see how the EFI reacts without porting, plus it's not cheap.

or that would work too. 50 hp w/ high comp. and cam. You think its possible with the new rappy?
It retains the same stroke right? I think its a feasable number.
