ITP Type 5 or 6...
I am looking into getting a bigfoot kit for my 05 Grizzly 660. I have decided on the tire ITP 589, but I still haven't decided on the wheel. I want to get the aftermarket rims for the offset to increase the stability.
ITP says that the type 6 is lighter than the type 5 and it looks like they took that weight from the edge or the rim. That would really diminish the reliability of the rim. Is that the case?
Also has anyone had any experience with the finish (either polish (type 6) or clear coat finish(type 5)) degrading over time?
Thanks,
Matt

I cant help on the wheels except to say I have a Ford Ranger that is off road a lot and it has the factory aluminum wheels that are clearcoated and they look like s*it.
The clearcoat has peeled in spots and dirt has got under it in some places.
I would definately go with the polish.

hmmm...well I did have a wrangler with clearcoated aluminum rims and they did start to pit over time...and if the polished surface gets dirty I can just buff it out with some compound...
but what about the durability. Does the material removed from the rim really make any difference? Has anyone had any experience with a rim failure?
