Im trying to get honest opinions about which bike is the best overall, not like the bomb is better becouse i own it. not like that. Dollar for dollar, horsepower. trail ride . duneride. dragrace. comfortable, overall ride and handling . I would like to see likes and dislikes of the bikes.

 

I too am very curious about how the new 700 compares to the ds. So far its been a mum topic in the bombardier forum?

 

I hope with the frame redesign Yamaha may have finally got the Raptor right. Time will tell.
Maybe their aren't many 700's out & about yet?

BTW, is this new 700 like a C'dale where one can use a computer to change settings?

 

My buddy next door just bought one but he has not made it home yet. I really can not tell you which would be faster or pull harder. I could put my 05x up against it but what im looking for is bike against bike. As far as weight goes the ds i believe is about 85 lbs more. This will be interesting. The reason i bought the 3 bombs was for the ride, comfortable and at 6 ft 3 in weighing 305, i looked like a monkey trying to f#&* a football when riding the other bikes.

 

I owned a ds for 2 years and loved it. It was riden hard and never broke once, and it started every time--every time, and had comfort matched {couch on 4 wheels} by no other bike. Ds is a great machine. Most ds owners are loyal and wouldn't care if yamaha came out with a raptor 1000r. I dealt mine for a shee {I'm addicted to 2-stroke power}. As for ds vs 700r, I would think 700r would be better than ds in every way, except for maybe comfort. Hard to beat the ds in comfort.

 

You might have to wait some time for the answers to all of your questions, the 700 just came out.
But I do like what I have been reading...

 

I really have to aplaud yamaha, Just got off the 700 , great acceleration, smoothe shifting. I guess that 80 lb difference does make a difference. if yamaha could make it a little bit bigger without the weight gain it would be a great bike. suspension is a little bit soft and it seem to be a little squirly going around the corner. All these things were from running it up and down the street. we will find out tommorrow how close it realy is. overall i think its a good bike. One of the concerns i have is will the 700 exhaust blister your leg up like the yfz.

700r all the way that DS is overrated and yamaha will prevail once again ;-)

 

Hey dumbA$$ im not trying to say bomb is better or the raptor is. Alot of people would like to know the good points and the bad points about both. If they made the raptor a little bigger i would own one of them also. Its stupid a$$e$ like you that make the forums miserable and people are worried about being attacked just for asking for some inteligent knowledge. You are probaly some 20 year old punk thats so insecure with yourself that you feel the need to run others down to make yourself feel better. If you would have read the first thread i posted on this subject you would have realized i was talking to morrons like you about posting the yamaha or the bomb is better just becouse i own it. One of these days you will grow up and realize that the world does not revolve around you. You are a real class act. To all the other yamaha riders and all other bike owners, i would like to apologize to you guys for vinnies ignorance. I still would like your opinions. Even vinies, im sure he is a good guy.

 

Went riding last weekend and got the shock of my life, lined my DS650x with endcap,KN,jetted against my freinds new 700R just with baffle removed in sand. Second gear 5000rpm got a few bike lengths infront until 3rd gear and then the 700 just went by and beat me by 10 bike lengths. He is about 60 pounds heavier also. I took his bike for a ride and was impressed, especially 4/5 gear hard acceleration and it is defenitely better to ride than the old raptor. I hope they are not using the same conrod in that 700. Tomorrow I am working on my buddies 06 450 and hopefully we will line this up with the 700 in the next 2 weeks and see what result we get, I think it will be close. Time for bomb to do a serious update!! I still luv my DS to ride and its a better built bike in my opinion.
