Default warrior weak performance?

well my dad just bought a 1997 warrior stock, but with 20 inch tires in the back that is a big change from 22 to 20 .. like 10% the bike seems to wind out and not have the power it should on top end, but my main question is. shouldent this bike pull a wheel in at least in 1st and 2nd? im not talking about dumping the clutch to pull it up im just talking about givin it all its got, b/c his will not come up at all... it runs great, no smoke etc... are warriors that weak? we have never had a warrior, but my 1989 polaris trail boss will run with this.. mabye the sprockets are diff also, what is the stock front and back?
hopefully its just the clutch, it was slipping on the top of the gears and when i hit it hard.. we adjusted it & fixed it but we sitll ordered another 1 mabye that will make a big difference, it could be slipping at the bottom too we just cant feel it as much
thanks

Default warrior weak performance?

It's a little hard to get mine up in a wheelie, but I can get one going in second, sometimes third with a small bump in the trail to get it started. It's not that warriors are weak, my honda 250ex can pull wheelies easier and that has less power. It's mainly that warriors have a lot of weight balanced over the front wheels which makes it harder to pull up.

i guess im just not used to the quad deal, i ride a 350x atc. it comes up in 4 gears lol leaning foreward and is sick fast, i thought the warrior would hold up better than it did... but the warrior is great for trail riding! me racing that warrior is like a civic racing a vette, and all i have is a dg, uni and a 14 tooth front sprocket vs the stock 13 to slow the low end up a little, i just put a 142 mj to replace the 138.. made no speed difference, but it cooled it down( that was the point)

i can pull the front up on my warrior no problem without the clutch and i dont think my mods give me alot more power then stock........

maybe your sitting to high on the seat try sitting farther back?????

i know on my friends raptor if i sat to far up on the seat i couldnt get the front up no mater how hard i tried (stock)

The reason for the warrior not wanting to wheelie is due to its weight rite on the front its 80% heavy'ier in ther front than your 350X and probaly out weighs it by a hundred pounds are so. What kind of exaust is on it if its stock thats one reason the stock pipe just robs the motor of its juice I have a raptor 350 same motor i can lean back and duck low and go through the gears hard and i can make it come up in 3rd flying but i also have a 12 tooth front sproket.

I have a 1997 Warrior with 22 in tires in the front and 20" holeshots in the rear. I have a jet kit, k&n, and a fmf pipe and a fmf header pipe. Mine is fast compared to all my friends that are stock. But anyway, with just hammering the gas, you wont get the front tires off the ground. Mine almost come off the ground, but they dont ever leave the ground. If you want to ride a wheelie you have to use the clutch. Your sprockets should be 13 teeth in the front and 40 in the rear, if they are stock. I believe that 2fast is right, they are to heavy in the front.

Yea most people think that if there quad can wheelie in 3rd and 4th its all due to power wrong!!!! yes power is on case but for the most part its weight go pick up the front end on any 400 EX - Z- KFX-DVX ORthe 660R RAP MUCH LESS THE YFZ YOU WILL< FEEL A BIG DIFF SO DONT BE DOWN CAUSE IT WONT even if you had a 660r cramped in it its not going to wheelie like one because of its low seat height and weight!!!!

yeah its obvious that the warriors motor is mounted much further forward than most other bikes. but it feels weak too, , like i said me racing it on my 350x with a stock jet is like a civic and a vette. i knew that wheelies dont mean power. a 800 horsepower lambo dosent pull a wheelie lol
well change the pipe

i can do a wheelie on mine in first w/o popping the clutch, for 2nd, i gotta pop it though... its cause the heavy front end.
