Wolverine vs 500 Scrambler 4x4

I think the Wolverine is a fine bike; however as long as the Scrambler is not broke, the scrambler will out perform it. I have ridden a wolverine extensively. It felt a little squirely compared to my SP500. It also climbs well. The rear axel is weak and if you intend on jumping, get ready to replace the rear axel. You can do a few things to improve low end performance like drilling the clutches and motor mods. You can also put a manual clutch on it and it will jump off the line.
But, no matter what you do to it, it is a 350. You can say that you can do all kinds of motor mods, but you can do the same to the Scrambler. You are always going to be a step behind. I do not think a Wolverine will hang with my SP500 through the mountains. I don't know how it would be comparable to a scrambler witch would probably pull away from me. I do think the Wolverine will be more reliable though. As it is with every other person that comes here for advise, it is up to you.

Greg, I really don't think you could hang with a good rider on an Wolverine. No offence, but copare cc's to weight and the sp and wolv. are almost the same. I've rode with alot of sp's, and on a typical trail can walk off and leave them. The biggest place you'll see differances is in the mud. The sp's are really great, Wolverines are pretty good and scramblers would fall behind. The reason I believe is the lack of ground clearance and the smaller, lower profile tires. I really do like the scramblers and from what I've seen really wicked woods machine's.

I ride in the mountains of Arkansas frequently. I have ridden with most bikes, and on many bikes. I have ridden with SP500s when I was on my SP500 and when I was on a modified wolverine. I have been riding all my life, and consider myself to be, at least somewhat, experienced. I can tell you I was riding on the edge pushing that wolverine to the limits. I could stay within a 100 feet or so, but not for long. Riding with the same person on my SP500, I have no problem keeping up, or for that matter passing him. Maybe you are more skilled than myself, or we are talking about completely different terrain. If there is someone in my area of east Texas, or around Wolf Pen Gap in Arkansas that would like to do a comparison, I am always up for a little competition.
Also, there are always wolverines in the barrel races at FWP, and I have never seen one in the top 3. The Wolverines get to race the utlities like my bike. I run low 24s. The wolverines are usually 26+ secs. The stock Scramblers ussually run 23s and the modified scrambler 400s run mid 21s. Also, the wolverines are not really considered competition in the sport bikes races either. The scrambler 500s run close to the 400exs a little behind the Scrabler 400s and a little further behind the 250r's.
