Fahq it is my understanding that oil prices are controlled by OPEC oil producing and exporting countries, but this is interesting "canada exsists because america allows it"?????? Wow are you quite the piece of work now are'nt you. Do you actually think that the world would allow a US invasion of canada????? As for why some canadians can't stand bush he is the worst thing that ever happened for canada us trade relations. The best part is it is costing you the american consumer, now stupid people such as yourself it does'nt bother me but there is alot of good people south of our border that don't deserve this. Now I would hate to effect your sleep at night here Fahq, as your not worried about the evil russians and germans, but there is a very large superpower that you have forgotten about CHINA and they don't really care for bush's foriegn policy. Now all canadians don't hate bush but I happen to be one that does. I am hoping that canada and the us can iron out whatever differences that there having and go back to being close allies again, but I don't see this happening with Mr. Bush in the white house.

Pudley, it is you who are the idiot. Re-read my post. I said I WON'T as in WILL NOT, say you exist because America allows it. Basically, I was trying to tell you that I truly wanted to know what an intelligent Canadian thought and that I would NOT bash you for being Canadian. Operative word being intelligent.

And as far as Bush being bad for US/Canadian trading. That is complete fodder. Canadians are upset because, for a short time, Bush banned the import of cows from Canada. Why, because they were tainted.

In regards to China, why would the US care about their view of America? They are a socialist country that suppresses its people. Not to mention women having less rights than pets. America does not worry about whether or not we are popular with other countries in the world. America did not become the best country in the world by basing its foreign policy on what we think others will like.
BTW, OPEC stands of Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries. Exporting is the word you need to pay attention to. They export, we import. The EXPORTING country sets the prices. NOT the importing countries. Thus the advantage in tapping our own reserves.

COWS you think this is it , How about 6 billion in tarrifs on canadian lumber even though, as I recall, the north american free trade agreement was brought forth by the U.S. Seems to me Bush is financing his war on terrorism with canadian lumber. That isn't it how about wheat, and hydro???? any responces Fahq? Well this is starting to get fairly political so I will leave it alone, especially when I am debating with someone whose ignorance is only surpassed by his stupidity.

Prices around here are 3.09-3.29 for gas and 3.09-3.39 for diesel. What European countries charge for gas is irrelevant in the U.S. Most of our cities in the U.S. are generally spread out where it is either unsafe, or too far to ride a bike or walk daily. I would ride my mountain bike to work and school if I had a death wish...

Pudley, You have absolutley no right to call me ignorant. You are the small minded one who read my post wrong. It also would appear that you are the only one who took it the wrong way, as you are the only clown to respond. You are the one who wants nothing more than to pick a fight. Tarriffs on imports is SOP. You would know that if you were remotely educated. You have already proven that you cannot read. You also have proven that you read selectively, as I responed to every point in your narrow minded post. You only respond to what you think you know something about. We read and realize, you didn't know anything about that either. You are a very hostile man. Try to like yourself and maybe others will begin to also.
Have a nice day

Pudley, how can Bush be financing his war on Terror using Canadian lumber? I thought all of you narrow minded fools believe he is financing the war by raising gas prices?
Pudley, you truly are a mis-informed, ignorant man. I am sorry you still live in your mothers basement. I am sorry that you got picked on all of your life. I am sorry that even your imaginary friend thinks you are a d!ck. You really have the attitude of a jealous man.
All this venom and for what? Because you interpreted my post as being anti-Canadian. I was trying to tell you that I wouldn't say something like that.
If I extend the olive branch, and you poke yourself in the eye. Don't call it an attack.

Thanks for the response but I was looking for the answer to know why it is "record" profits. I understand the gas stations making a quick buck off the difference between what they paid in inventory. I don't understand how this trickles back to Mobil and Exxon. I understand crude oil is purchased on a per barrel basis. This price is determined by the sotck market right? Are then saying OPEC tells Mobil how much to charge per gallon once it is refined.
Trust me, I am not trying to trap anyone into a debate based on my knowledge in this area. I totally don't understand how the entire oil industry works from the time it comes out of the ground to the time I put it in tank. I understand certain portions but not the big picture.
