I rode my raptor 3 days on the ST. Anthony sand dunes. I put 8 paddle haulers on and I can climb everything including Choke Cherry. It is great, but a Banshee will beat it on a long steep dune.

Thats great, what gear can you pull a hill in? I can pull Olds hill in Glamis in 3rd, but I have the 12 tooth gear on the front. I was able to beat stock Banshee's but lost bad to piped ones. Also, have you re-jetted? St. Anthony's is around 5000 feet and last year I was there with my Warrior and it wouldn't climb anything until I went up a main jet size.

Anyway, sounds like you love your Raptor as much as I love mine. Even if it isn't the fastest up the hill, it dunes great and is the best looking bike out there

It is definitely the best looking ATV. I have put on a 12 tooth sprocket in front and taken out the baffle. It has run fine without rejetting. Choke Cherry is about a 600 foot climb. I hit the bottom in third (rough approach) and the last 150 feet I am in 1st. On Crapo's or Thunder mountain I can climb the north side and pull 2nd all the way to the top. I plan on putting on a K&N filter and either a FMF or White Brothers R Series silencer. Which is best?

Hey, how did you take out the baffle? I took the bolt out and no luck. Any help would be appreciated.

Hey rwalker,

That’s great, Choke Cherry is a monster hill, I couldn’t climb it with my old Warrior. My next trip out to the sand at Glamis I’m planning on trying it without the baffle and airbox if I can get a K&N by then. Otherwise, I’ll at least run without the snorkel.

On the pipe I had a WB E series on the old Warrior but am holding out for more HP gain then what I’ve seen so far (4 HP). There’s a shop here working with a guy in LA on a full pipe system for the Raptor. They are claiming a 12 HP increase on their initial dyno runs, so I’m going to wait and see. The goal would be to go back to the stock 13 tooth and still be able to dune in 3rd gear

Ok, now you're talking. What's the name of the company that is working on this new exhaust system? 12 more HP? Sign me up! If you don't know yet, then list the company later. Thanks

Yep, Chokecherry is a tough hill. I couldn't make it on my stock Banshee. I hate to admit it but a girl on a stock Banshee made up after several tries... Man, was I embarrassed. The hill was pretty tore up that day and she weighed half as much as me. Nothing worse than missing a shift 3/4 of the way up that hill... I came down backwards faster than I went up.. Scarry!

bartman, don't know much about the pipe yet. I've been talking to a guy who owns a local ATV shop here in Mesa. He's working with someone in LA on a pipe/muffler combo for the Raptor. The shop here has a dyno and is seeing 8 HP with the muffler only and 12 HP with the pipe/muffler combo. He is saying $500 for the combo, $575 if you want chrome. I'm going to try and work a deal where he installs the pipe and dyno's my bike to show the HP increase before I pay for the pipe.
