Default Wolverine 424 Help.

I have an 04 Wolverine that I put a Warn 424 select on a few months ago and it has worked fine up until now. I can get both the 4x4 and 2x4 modes to work right, but it won't snap into 2x4 like it should. I tried to adjust the cable like I have heard and read about, but it still didn't work properly so I decided to take apart the shifter to see if I could figure anything out. After doing so, I saw that there is alot of crap (don't exactly know what it is) that is built up on the brass tube that slides in and out and on the two little ***** that are supposed to hold the assembly out when pulled into 2x4 mode. Anyone else ever had this problem? Any ideas on how to clean this up? When I push in the button, I can push the little ***** back in, but they don't want to spring back out when I release the button. Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

probably some dirt, mud and crust mixed with grease built up in there. Try soaking everything with wd-40 or some other kind of aerosol lube to get it cleaned up, especially around the detent *****, then grease it up good before you put it back togeter.

What kind of grease do you think I should use after I get it cleaned up?

I would probably use white lithium grease - pretty much a general purpose grease - and pack it in there good
