Raptor Spark Arrester Removal
#1
I know people have posted how to do this before...I just wasn't paying much attention! I tryed using the "search feature" with no availe(sp). Anyway, can someone give me "detailed" instructions as to how to remove it for when I get my Raptor here in a week or two. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

Bartman, you may have seen some of my earlier comments, but I got a Big Gun slip-on for my Raptor and it is way too loud. In fact, I just took it off and it is going back. I was curious how your bike sounds and runs without the baffle and spark arrestor. I don't mind being louder than stock, but the straight pipe was obnoxious. Does yours run lean now without the baffle?

Pairof98s,
I don't me to butt in, but I've had my baffle out. It was hard to remove, so the dealer had his mechanic heat it up with a torch and it then came out pretty easy. It is now easy to slip in and out.
As far as function, it does add some noise, but it isn't obnoxious like some. It also seems to add low end torque. I talked to the folks at Powroll, and even though they are in the process of designing a pipe for the Raptor, they said that in the mean time, removing the baffle and the restriction in the intake was good for about a 10% gain in power if you rejet. They recommended going up a size on the pilot jet and raising the needle. I currently have the baffle in, because I wanted to work out my problem with it backfiring before I made any changes from stock. I can say that while I had it out, I could tell a noticeable difference in the acceleration.
I bet that you've never noticed yourself hitting the rev limiter have you? With the baffle out, just blipping the throttle or getting on it hard in first gear will result in hitting the limiter. To me, that says something has improved in its ability to breath!
