I'm addicted!!!

My brother in law bought an 05 Z400 late last year, and after that I just had to get an ATV of my own. Prior to that I would ride his busted up Blaster with no brakes. A couple months ago I bought an 01 Raptor 660. And ever since I got that thing home, it's all I want to do, and think about. I grew up with dirt bikes, and have owned a street bike, but none were as much fun as the quad.
The bike I bought was in great shape, and barely ridden (although I did have to put new bearings and seals in the rear) But I have put in a K&N airfilter, jets, FMF header and pipe. What a difference those things made in the response of the bike. As for now, it's plenty fast enough for me. And will whooooop my b-i-l's Z400.
But, I have to admit his Z400 handles quite a bit better. Now, I want to start investing in things that will improve the bikes handleing, without spending a fortune.
I'm thinking of putting wheel spacers on it, and maybe lowering brackets for the front end. What do you all think of those mods, would they make a signifigant difference? For the most part the bike does handle good, however there are times that I feel the inside wheels want to come up, and over. We do mostly trail riding, but there are a few tracks near by that we want to check out soon.

Wheel spacers and lowering kits are a no-no when it comes to jumping and the mx track. If you want to get lower, then put on smaller tires. If you want to get wider, the best way is through new a-arms and axle(albeit the expensive way) Depending on what tires you are running, aftermarket low profile options such as holeshots or razors may help handling also. BTW, I'm addicted too!

First thing I'd do is put on a +4" axle. Those Rappy's are very tippy because they are top heavy and that short stock axle is the easiest and biggest handling improvment to install IMO. Then I'd worry about widening the front end, either offset wheels or +2" a-arms.

I used to be just like you.. when i got my 01' i had the same exact ?s that you had.. and yes deffinately go with wider a-arms and wider axle.. for the axle i highly reccomend RPM axle. its +5 inches over stock and its the strongest most durable axle out there.. all my buds have it and never once has it ever broken or been damaged in any way. The only hard part is finding a place to sell the axle..
A-arms are a deffinate over wheel spacers... i would go +2+1 which means +2 out (+4 total Right and Left) and +1 forward.
The +1" forward is very helpful on the track and in my personal opinion it is very noticable if you get that extra inch.. dont seem like much but believe me you will notice it.
