Beware! Grizzly Coolant Hose Not Protected Near Motor

There’s something a Grizzly owner needs to know, if you don’t already.

The coolant hose coming from the engine is exposed and susceptible to puncture. If you look under the left foot platform, under the radiator reservoir, the hose is wide open with no protection.

The problem is when you do puncture the hose and lose all fluid, you won’t know until you heat light comes on. The fluid will be leaking directly on the ground which gives no smell or steam to let you know.
Also the fan will not come on because there’s no fluid in the radiator to transfer the heat to the sensor.

Don’t be fooled. If the bike overheats and the fan is not running, it may not be a fan problem. You can check your fluid overflow reservoir, and it may show a good level. My Griz showed level close to the high mark, but there was no fluid in the system.

The hose can be cut and rerouted to get home. I cut about 4 or 5 inches off and had just enough to reroute and reconnect.

The hose is fairly cheap to replace. 50 bucks.

If anyone knows of a aftermarket plate to protect the hose, let me know. If not, I will CAD one up and post it on the forum.

Can anyone relate to this problem.
