i took it to the shop (adam's car shop). i paid 150 bucks to get the gearing changed. if your asking me how hey did it, i dont know. call and ask at 786-544-3281 or go search on yahoo. All i know is that a high gear transmission, which the yfz450 started out with, allows you to accelerate faster, but decreases top speed. that is why high gearing is used for the track. and low gearing is the exact opposite, which is commonly used for long straight aways like the dunes.

But if you're a "full time racer" like you say wouldn't that be the wrong thing to do? Or do you race on a 1 mile oval?

I do lots of drag racing in Florida, but I mainly changed it to low gearing transmission because for the dyno testing.

There aren't that many MX tracks in Jacksonville. Well, at least I don't know of any.

In your other posts you raced MX all the time at "your local track" Yandy MX Track. Then you changed it to Yady in Shelbyville, Tenn. I guess I'm just confused and I'm still lost on the lower gearing thing. Most people just change the sprockets but you got the special transmission upgrades I guess. What compression is this Alba Kit anyways? What is an Elderbreck Carburetor? How much did all these mods cost anyways?

Call Adam's Car Shop at (786)-544-3281, and ask for John Mayers Dyno Testing Graphs at the motorcycle section because I also got my car dynoed at the car section.
I tried to call them but it seems that the number is no good. Isn't that strange? It is a registered # in Perrine, FL though. Also, you seem to have spelled your last name wrong, in your profile it's Mayor.

When I had my raptor, I raced at a local track, the Yandy Track in Shelbyville, Tenn. Thats where my grandpa lives, he just oved there and I stayed with him for a while to help put up a fence boarder around his 200 acres land (go check out John Deere Topic in Hunting Farming and outdoors section). Not long after I came back home to Jacksonvill, Florida, I sold my raptor and bought a new quad, the 06 yfz450. And about the low gearing. There's three MAIN type of transmission gearing, low, medium, and high. Low gearing allows you to have a higher top speed, sacraficing your acceleration and vice versa for the high gearing. The medium gearing transmission allows you to have a little of both, ok acceleration and ok top speed (average). I don't know how they do it, but mabey you can call them or go search around online. The Alba Kit is a 13:1 compression kit. An Elderbreck Carburetor is just a carburetor, but a better one and a trusted brand for carbs, even i have one in my car from the same brand. Total for mods plus the changing of the gearing to low costed me approximately 2 1/2 G's.

That would be Edelbrock and could you show me where it is on "your" EFI car?

Excuse me buddy, but did I specifically say my Supra?? I just dont have "A" supra. I also have a 1982 metalic blue fiber glass body corvette stingray. If you don't believe me, ask me anything about them. WHEN I answer them all correctly, your going to look like a fool.

lol I think ltzevil is just being...umm....evil But it cracks me up. As for gearing you have it opposite. Low gearing gives you more low end, and high gearing gives you more top end. Low gearing gives you a better launch but you lose top speed. What you may be thinking of is the final drive ratio.
Ex. A 4.10 ratio is actually 4.1 turns of drive shaft equals 1 turn of axel
A 3.73 ratio is actually 3.73 turns of drive shaft equals 1 turn of axel

So, the higher number ratio is lower geared. The ratio of your cars ring and pinion (The gears in your rear end 4.10, 3.73, 3.08 etc., etc.) can be related to your sprokets. The front sproket would represent the pinion and the rear would represent the ring.

Ex. If you have a 14 tooth front and a 40 tooth rear the ratio would be 40 divided by 14 giving you approx. a 2.86 ratio
If you dropped a tooth in the front to get lower gearing you'd come up with about 3.08

See how your lower gearing equates to a higher ratio number, even though it's lower gearing.
