In my experience, on the yfz anyway, is that I had to gear the thing up (down in ratios! Going down in teeth gained nothing, and just translated into wheel spin. This is in the dirt anyway. I ended up with a 15/38 combo, that is +1 up front. The thing hauls a$$ and much less wheel spin. gives it a much better topspeed too, as the stock yfz topspeed is nothing to write home about IMO. I can still wheelie in 5th gear, and can still top the thing out in 5th at wot, and bounce off the rev limiter. According to gearing calculators, the topspeed is about 89mph (with 20's), if I have NO wheel spin, and keep bouncing off my higher revving cdi's rev limiter.

Not sure if I want to mess with the raptors gearing, as its already kinda geared tall ( low ratio's)

Thats good news, you should have better luck this time, the white 700 should last longer and be good for an extra 1/2hp

I would'nt go as far to say Yamaha cares about it's customers. I had to force them legaly with the song/beverly consumer warrenty act 1973.3 calif. civil code ,and also had an attorney on standby that was willing to take my case on it's own merit. After reading countless law code on the web and getting legal advice, I told yamaha ,new bike or attorney, they then and only then gave me a new bike. Im also sure Yamaha knows their in a weak legal posision, or I would'nt be getting a bike on their customer sevice Merits. I would rate thier customer service as SUCKS BEOND MY IMAGINATION. They are apparently having problems kepping people employed in their cust. service dept., they run a no stop add on the Yamaha web site for CUSTOMER SERVICE REPS. WANTED

On the flip side of all that BS Yamaha did a great job in the design dept. on the 700 Raptor. I simply got one with a bad head casting. Can'twait to pick Whitey up with that extra 1/2 horse
It's going streight to my garage for a 734 kit and Head Porting.

I noticed Trinity started an exchange program for the cylinder and head, wish they had that when I did mine, the only down time would be the couple hours it takes to do the swap. You will be happy with the results
