anybody know where i can find a analog tach for my buddies yfz450?

 

I would like to know that to.

 

highlifter makes a nice analog tach for quads, but they're pricy and hard to find, last time I looked for them I only found one place that sold them, some security equipment website that had atv accessories, but that was over a year ago so you might have better luck

 

I checked them out too, the HL tach is no longer sold through HL. They discontinued them because of problems they had with the readout, they would fluctuate wildly and werent as accurate as they should have been.

 

so, where could I get one? I know they make temperature guages, but i just dont understand why they dont make analog tachs.

 

you're only possibility left that I know of is to buy a dyna ignition box and connect a tachometer for a car to the dyna's output, but you'll be spending over $400. The dyna ignition is worth the money though if he's planning on modding the yfz

 

I got a vortex ingnition, would that work

 

only if the vortex has a tachometer output but i don't think they do. I think the dyna-fs programmable ignition is the only one out there that has the tach output. If your vortex did happen to have a tach output there would be an extra pigtail coming out of the box that isn't connected to anything.

Yamaha lists a digital tach/hourmeter in their ATV accessories. Perhaps you could rig up a Sunpro or Autometer tach.
Ive seen quads with tachs, Olav Aaen has one on his drag quads and the Bombarider DS 650 Baja comes with a tach, so it can be done.
