Every time I ride in water or wash my 4 month old Wolverine it takes an hour for "something" to dry out before "it" will run at more than an idle. If I give it gas it will backfire and die. Water isn't getting into the air box and if the object that I beleive to be the coil is the coil...it does not appear wet and the plug is never wet. Does anyone have any idea's?

Thats just it...the oil is fine, nothing in the gas and the plug "appears" to be dry. After an hour of idling it runs fine.

hey you don't have to have water in the box for it to run crappy! Check that air filter to box seal is it tight? A small puddle can form below the opening and get sucked into the intake ; pull yer filter off and look at the indentation under the filter. A pro flow adaptor will cure this or a big o-ring and some rtv will work with some ingenuity. Also try spraying the electrical system with some type of water proof spray.( ignition sealer works well on my warrior wich has the same set up as the wolvie. or it could be the park break. chuck that sucker.

macgiver you may be on to something. Whatever is wet, is currently wet, I'll pull that cable and dry it tonight to see if the parking break connection is the culprit. Thanks

Shepp,
I know exactly what is wrong with your bike. If you plan to ride in water over the bowl of the carborater, you need to plug the drain line that comes off the bowl. Water is getting into the carb through the overflow needle. Anyway, depending on how many times you have done this, you may want to pull your bowl off and clean it. Plugging this drain line will prevent this from happening in the future. Also you need to run the carb vent lines to the handle bars. Just thank me later.

You probably are getting water into the carb. through the carb. vent line which terminates in front of the air intake, be careful when you wash your atv and don't direct water in that area.
