I'm looking for some input on a current problem i am experiencing.


ATV: 1985 Yamaha 200

The Problem: After excellent start and warm up period has expired, whether idling or in gear a light popping sound is occuring. On occasion the engine will want to die out. With a choke it will start right up. This only occurs for a quick second only to return intermittently. I'm wondering if someone doesnt have some suggestions or hints of items to check. Carburator has been cleaned. Plug has been changed.

 

What are the circumstances of the popping? Going on throttle, coming off throttle or steady state?
Could be either a lean moxture or valves needing an adjustment.
Look for air leaks in the intake area, and mixture screw adjustment.
