I have used castrol R1 superbike. It is great stuff. Reasonably priced.
I like it better than amsoil 0-40. I had more engine nosie with amsoil.
Synthetic is far superoir to conventional...higher flash point, bonds with engine parts, develops pressure faster on startup, superioir scar tests. Your engine simply doesn't wear as much. Just don't use it when breaking in...cause it won't break in.
The brand isn't important. Just make sure it can be used with a wet clutch.

What CaptainToyota is referring to is oils that contain "friction modifiers". You can't use these with a wet clutch system, your new clutch won't last more than a few hours. Most motorcycle synthetics will advertise on the bottle "does not contain friction modifiers" or also know as "moly" (molybdenum, comes from the mineral molybdenite). So be careful when using automotive oil, read the bottle for contents or you could end up with some nice mirror-finish clutch plates.
With that said, I use Amsoil synthetic and love it, this stuff is slick.
