A guy had one at Dragway 42 a couple of weeks ago. Clocked it at 89 mph. No idea what mods if any he had done to it.

89?
78?

And then you guys woke up.

A stock Raptor tops out in the neighbor of 73-74. I've ridden with 2 now, and clocked them both, and they were right on the money.

Its amazing what people will make up.

Slick.

Mine will run 74.9 on radar .I live down south and the temps and humidity were in the 90's. I will check it again when they both drop. If they do. '89' it must of been on the back of a truck.

It probaly varies. Isn't there a rev limiter? Maybe from dealer to dealer they adjust them lower to higher.

The new issue of Dirtwheels has the Raptor clocked at 71, this is the same magazine a couple of months ago clocked the Banshee at 72. I guess the Banshee is still the king of speed! They are both great quads though!

Going by what the magazine says?

Yeah okay. The same "magazine" that rates the banshee with 40 stock horsepower one issue and 2 issues later rates it with 24-28. I don't believe half of what they say.

What I DO know is that I have a digital speedometer by Topeak. The Topeak Panoram. www.Branfordbike.com. Anyway, I had a banshee with a top speed around 86mph. I confess that I have to rev it a long way to get 86 out of her, so the more reasonable speed that is easily attained is 83-84. I've ridden with 2 Raptor owners who are close friends of mine. Depending on their tire pressure, type of day, and asphalt contour they top out at 73 with 3.5 PSI in the tires. With 5 PSI it was very close to 74. However, You can only guestimate so close when you're riding next to someone.

What I can tell you is that my top speed in 5th gear is almost identical to the Raptor's top speed in 5th gear. The only difference is that I then shift into 6th. ;-)

Slick
