Has anyone out there changed the jets on their Raptor? I got my Big Gun pipe today and they say to increase the main jet 2 sizes for the slip on and 4 sizes for the complete set. The slip on adds 4 hp and the complete system adds 8 hp. On California models, it adds 12 hp.

Anyway, it looks like a difficult task to get the carbs off. Certainly the gas tank and front fenders will have to come off. Then how do you move the carbs since they run on one linkage?

Anyone who has already re-jetted, please give some feedback as to what all is necessary.

Will you be at LS this weekend? I have a new big gun full exhaust on my DS650 and I'd like to see how they compare. I'll be up there this weekend. I'll be running 22" 10-paddle haulers in the rear, 22" razorbacks in the front w/front fenders removed, and I'll have a tach mounted on the handlebars.

Not this weekend Scooby. I was there 4 days last week and I have been there 4 of the last 6 weekends since getting my Raptor. I hope to go again very soon though.

Rejetting is pretty easy actually. Yes remove the front fenders and gas tank and that piece of rubber (which I removed permantly). Take the boots between the carbs and the air box out. You will need a phillips and a 3mm allen. Then loosen the clamps on the manifold. You can just flip it over and get to the bowls with out removing the cables. With the bowls off use an 8mm wrench and remove the tube that the jet is in, then hold the tube with the wrench and remove the jet. Watch out for the piece the jet holds in.
Hope this help...

In your "pair of 98's" what can you tell me about you '98 Sport.? I have a '99 Warrior and other than it beats me to death on the rough sand and whoops I am "reasonably" satisfied with it. Seems to be a lot of Sports at LS and most riders seem very satisfied with them.

Are the jets the same as other Mikuni carbs, or are they unique to the BST series? Where can one purchase these larger jets? Please, those of you who may know advise us. Thanks! Also, please post the correct sizes found to work with the different pipes. (Mains as well as needle positions.)

They are the small round ones, as used in street bike Mikuni`s...

The Polaris 400 does very well in the dunes. It is very comfortable, but it does feel heavy through the woops. Don't know if you would like it better than the Warrior.

It's done now. It wasn't too bad, just took a little time. For future reference, don't try to separate the carbs. They are bolted together and you can remove them as one piece. Mine had stock 140 and 145 mains. I moved the 145 to the left side and put a 150 in the right. Haven't had a chance to ride yet, but it sure is loud with the Big Gun.

Maybe I should explain the Raptor jetting before I get some "you're stupid" mail. The Raptor uses different size main jets; 2 sizes larger on the right side to compensate for the 3rd intake valve. All other components remain the same.
