today recently i made some trails in the woods real close by my house well anyway this was my second time riding there. Some guy came down and told me to leave. He asked me how long ive been in my town and where i live and that he hunts there. I left and said sorry but anyway i geuss i wanted to say newjersey sucks for riding because where i live theres nowhere within 20 minutes where i can even take a slow ride just to get out. Does this happen to other people alot. Any good stories about it i get shooken up by things like this.

First thing I would find out is who "this guy" is.
If he dont own the land of have it leased tell him to kiss your *** and keep riding.
Just because he hunts there dont give him the right to tell anybody else to leave.

if it's private owned land, and the hunter has permission to hunt it,and bk8800 doesnt have permission from the owner to blaze trails on it,,,,i'm going to have to disagree with you Oh Hell,,,,,the hunter has every right to say something whether or not he own's it or not
keep in mind hunting season is getting close, and bk8800 doesnt own it either,,,,the differance is,the hunter more than likely has permission (if he doesnt in fact own it)
i own 32 acres, and i have several trails running through it,everyone knows not to ride on my property on the weekends before noon, and most definatley around deer season,,,,i pay for salt licks, and apples for a reason, not to mention i'm the one who pays the mortgage every month

Thats why I said First thing find out who he is.
Just because he hunts it dont mean he has permission either.
I know a guy that has about 50 acres posted that belongs to a land co.
He dosent have it leased or permission of any kind to do it.
He is just *** enough to try and lay a claim on it.
He fools out of towners ,,but the locals just laugh at him.
This guy may or not be like that.....Thats why I said find out who he is.

If you don't have permission from the owner you shouldn't be on the property at all much less be blazing trails on it i.e. damaging something which does not belong to you. Trespassing is a crime.
That is the kind of crap that gives atv riders a bad name, turns public opinion against us, angers landowners (I know since I am one) and closes existing trails and riding areas.
I'm really sorry that you don't have any riding areas close by but that doesn't give you the right to trespass. I'd say you got off lucky with just being told to leave when he could have called the police and had you charged with trespassing and possibly vandalism or criminal trespass. If I would have caught you on my land doing that I would have had you charged with everything I could have. In fact, it's something I've done on a couple of occasions. Then I would have taken you to court to recover damages from the trails you blazed on my property.
And no this sort of thing doesn't happen to me since I don't trespass hence I don't get "shooken" by it.
If you don't have a place to ride your atv without trespassing or you lack the self control to not ride where you don't have permission to do so; maybe you shouldn't have bought one.

Where in NNJ? I'm also in NNJ and do the trail riding (mostly plowing the drive) but also hunting... just curious where others are finding to ride.. of course, i'm limited as to how far I can go as my ATV (95 Kodiak) doesn't fit into my short-bed pickup.

alright first off, this land wasn't posted at all and their are new jersey washington townships wetlands right by it so i figured it belonged to green acres(town to preserve for land and u can't make houses on it) this was also my first time back there ever and i made a mistake plus i said i wouldn't come back. I don't know who the guy is but i asked my mom and she found it wierd that he could hunt back there considering there r houses with in 100 yards.
.... by the way CaptainQuint, what quad do u have?

no ur right i shouldn't of went there but other people ride at this other place that is right by it and no one really cared that much because no one went back there. I should of found out what that land actually was before i went on it. learned from mistake. but i've come to the conclusion that im not gunna ride in my town anymore ofr a few reasons. I think ill head west and travel to ride. So ull be happy to hear that. But really, im not ur classic trouble maker kid, just made a mistake.
