Compression Check

I am in the process of adjusting the valves on my sons 1994 Yamaha Breeze (thanks to the help from others here) and am trying to find the proper compression psi along with the recommended valve clearances.
If anyone could provide an educated guess until I get a service manual I would appreciate it.
Right now the compression is 50 to 65 psi which I suspect is low and am trying to solve a very "hard to start when cold" problem. It doesn't smoke too much so I am hoping it is a problem with valve settings.
Thanks,
Rob
