Default **Checking oil**

Just wondering when u should check your oil, do u check it when the quad is cold, or after u go for a ride and warm it up. It always looks like there less oil in it right after i ride it is this because the oil is still in the top end ??? and when its cold it looks the dipstick reads thats theres more cause the oil is all settled in the bottom end??? thanx guys

the oil doesnt go into the top end. it goes into the case, and lubricates the top end but i would have to say check it when its warm, you ride it when its warm and also the oil gets to circulate throughout the engine- that is if theres an oil pump and a tank.

I check mine after I warm it up for a few minutes, wait a minute and then check it. You should aleays check it after it warms up.

You always check oil when it is cold......that is what we do on all of our farm equiptment........This way you have plenty of oil.......Plus.....the oil will all be in the case, settled.......so you can have an accurate reading.....it won't be slung all over the parts, and for some quads still in the motor.......

to be sure - check your manual.

my grizzly manual states that you should warm the engine for several minutes then turn off the machine and let the oil settle for several minutes.

either way, your manual will settle the debate.
