Oil burning is either from worn rings, bad valve seals, but sometimes if you put in a little to much oil after an oil change, it will suck it into the air box and burn it, giving you the oil smoke. If it runs strong, do a compression check to see if the rings or valves are worn, if the compression is above 115 psi, you should be good for a while. A knocking noise is usually a worn piston or rod bearing with some slop in it, valves out of adjustment make a metallic ticking noise. There is no need to run 93 octane or even 89 unless you have a high compression piston, you're just wasting money for no performance gain. There is a possibility the knocking is from running too lean, check your plug, and make sure your jetting is correct to compensate for the aftermarket silencer.
