Thinking about lift kit for 2000 kodiak, wondering how much they help and what are the side effects to handling. Looking into HI-LIFTER brand. thanks

In my opinion, The major downside I know of is it completely changes the drive line geometry. This equals more wear on the 4X4 systems.

I would highly advise against it. I'm probably in the minority on this but it is my opinion.

Most lift kits are nothing more than shock exstensions, Highlifters lift kits for Yamaha 4 by 4rs are exactly that. They have no effect on driveline geometry. ATV suspensions travel in an arc from a fixed point extending the shocks will have no ill affect on drive line angles. You will get about 2 inches more ground clearance and will raise your center of gravity, not a big problem on the Kodiak. If you want you could buy the wheel extenders also made by Highlifter but only use them on the rear wheels.
