Default dobeck vs pwer commander

I am going to be looking for one or the other next week. Can I hear some opinions on which to buy? I saw that the dobeck was $100 cheaper but you have to program it yourself. Are you able to change the settings on the power commander or just download a new map?

Ive read about the 3 programmers out there(Dynojet, Trinity and Dobeck) and I will be getting the Trinity for sure.

I read about Dobeck, and they say you use a screwdriver to tune it like a carb. More or less fuel. That doesnt sit well with me, because at what point are you adding fuel?

Dynojet states that they have preprogrammed maps available for you to download to thier powercommander....problem is they are for specific filter and pipe setups. They go on to say that if you have a different filter or pipe it will still work and be 90% optimum rather than 100%. What you end up with is something that is not correct for your setup. On top of that, it seems inconvieniant if you dont have a lap top computer. I know i do not have one, nor can I get by bike in the house to where my computer is.

Trinity seems like the one for me. There are no maps to download, no screw to turn....I understand it to be to select a powerlevel, and then its self learning\self adjusting.

Thats my opinion.

With the PCIII you hookup a 9 volt battery to the PCIII via a adapter to your home computer, download the map you want, install the PCIII on the quad and off you go, if you feel there are changes to be made while riding, there are 3 dials on the PCIII for Low, Mid and High, you can make adjustments without any laptop on the trails, if you feel it needs alittle more on the bottom end, turn the Low dial and so on with the other 2 ranges. With the laptop, you can make changes via percentages of fuel delivered to the various ranges for more fine tuning. I myself will be recieving my PCIII in a couple of weeks, RaptorRandy27, whom I ride with, has the PCIII installed and it works like a champ.

The power commander gives you the most control if you know how to use it and have the equipment to use it to its full potential.

I agree. When I first installed the PCIII I just down loaded the map for stock air filter and baffle removed which was exactly what I had done at the time. It made the thing come to life but it still didn't pull in fifth gear like I thought it should. I thought it was just my Machine but I saw others posting with the same observations. I familiarized my self with the PCIII software and started creating my own custom map and after a few azz dyno sessions I got her to pull hard all the way thru fifth gear as well as 1st thru 4th without having to re-gear which made a huge difference in the top speed for dragin on the flats. (She runs hard on the hills as well)Needless to say I was pretty happy with the tuning capabilities of the PCIII I was able to out run a lot of Quads with more mods than mine that I didn't think I would have a chance against.
