In a world of Ute's I'm the lone Rappy rider with a question
#1
I live up in Kodiak AK and I own a 2004 Raptor LE,It's got about 20 hours on it and I'm ready to start modding a little. First off I'm kinda an outcast with the sport bike because 90% of the ATV's up here are Ute's (most of them really nice) Theres more aggresive trail riding here than anything else, allot of creek crossing, extreme rocky trails and a butt load of mudd. I have had success going riding with these 4x4 guys and have been awarded with their praise for being able to keep up with those guys. Last week I split the side wall on my right rear tire and slightly bent the rim on an extreme trail (very fun though)!!
I would like to replace my rear tires and wheels with I.T.P. units and I'm really considering Holeshots for tires but dont know what wheel's to get (ITP) And what sizes and should I go with? I would love to go bead lock but just cant afford it. I would really like that racer look and strenghth, similar to what you see on alot of mag covers. I'm new to the sport bike seen so please forgive my ignorance. Also what bolt pattern are stock Raptor hubs? and I plan on buying a complete exhaust but dont know what size jet to pick up! any ideas? thanks guys I appreciate your help if you can. By the way those extreme trails are cool but I spend most of my time on the dirt and sand with occasional mild trail use.

sounds like you are having fun!! cool
Most of the time the utes are the ones trying keep up,,,,,so you must be riding some hairy stuff.
I would recommend taller 22" rears and 23" front tires. If you are gonna go with holeshots,,,,get the knarliest ones they have(HD i think) and be sure they are 6 ply.
You could probably even get away with some type of mud tire like a spider trac, realtor, or mudlite.
Go ahead and drop 1 tooth on the front sprocket and go up on the rear as many as 3-5 teeth. This will really help you when the going gets tough/slow/sloppy,,,as it will drop your gearing a bit. You will be able to lug across stuff a lot easier.
Do a search on raptor pipes for trail riding,,i would look for something that will give you more low end...anyhow, lots of info in the archives. (on jetting also)

Holeshot does'nt make a 22" HD tire, I thought about them but found that out. A couple of the guys I ride with put mudsharks on and so far they have held up pretty well and provided good traction, you might consider them. I should also add that although the 22" tire only picks it up an inch it makes a huge difference, I spend a fair bit of time straightning my back skid plate and the boys with the 22" barely scrape bottom at all. If you do put the big rubber on do what bing says and go 1 tooth less on the front as the back skid plates don't really allow for bigger sprokets.
