At the crank possibly. The driveline consumes about another 20%+.

I always heard that it was down in the mid 30's somewhere.

42hp at crank - 20 to 30 percent driveline loss = 30 to 36 rwhp, then factor in the weight and tire size and you'll see why a grizz runs slower than its sport counterpart.

Top speed is still pretty close to the Raptor, it just takes the Griz a little longer to get there. That's not bad considering the weight differance and all the extra moving parts.

I doubt it is 36 rear wheel horse power. The grizzly is a powerful machine but not that powerful. I heard the 700 V-Twin from the Praries have 32 rear wheel hp so the grizzly would have less than that.

Edit: Here is a link from highlifter that shows the grizzlys stock hp. Oh and the Prarie has almost 36 peak hp, my mistake.

Tanks for all your replies,
With 1000cc quads around the horizon the the once mighty Grizz may be dwarfed in comparison to the new monsters coming, But how much HP is really necessary to do what we want to, I mean if I'm not careful the machine will kill me just the way it is with only 30-40 HP.
Will there be a point where enough is enough?

Exactly what I say. I would love to have a bigger machine, but the fact is I can make my 350 go anywhere I will ever want it to go. Anything more is just a luxury.
