Service manual says between 1.18" - 1.77". I have about 1.65", but it seems like too much. Also the manual says the links should be very loose and not stick, but my new spare chain sticks the same way.

When I checked mine it was about 1.50 inches. In my 2001 owners manuel it says if it exceeds 1.60 inches to adjust, so going by your link it looks like they have upped the limit slightly.

I have a six inch ruler I put up to the swing arm to check the deflection.
