Default clutch kits

hey guys, i ride an 03 450 kodiak and was thinking about getting a clutch kit for it and have a few questions. why do they make "elevation kits?" do the kits mess with the carb? i don t really understand why it matters what elevation you ride at for a clutch kit. i wouldnt need an elevation kit, just wondering. also, i want to change my tires. i have 25" superswamper tsl's and they are ok but i have gotten way too many flats with em and am sick of it- i have tubes in 2 of my tires and many repaired holes in the other 2-i was thinking about the kenda executioners, 25"mudlite XLs, 26" dirt devil XTs, or the gators. i would like to stay in 25" size (other than the devils cuz only 26s are XTs) what do you guys run? any help is greatly appreciated

At higher altitudes, the horsepower is less than sea level. The clutch kit for elevation, allows the engine to build more revs before engaging , and changes the ratio by holding the primary back, slightly from stock profile. If its done right, you wont notice much loss in proformance while at altitude.
