Default Intermittent engine studdering problem

I have an 04' Wolverine with approximately 20 hours on it. Has been through the ranks with mud and dirt from time to time. When I'm riding, every so often the engine starts studdering like there is fuel starvation. It seems like a clogged jet maybe or clogged carb in general. Any other thoughts? I think I need to take apart the carb and clean that sucker out. Also drain the tank and get some fresh gas in there. . .
