I know it has a different cooling system than most, how does it do on trails? Does it over heat?

All the ones I've ridden with seem to do fine, with no overheating.

Its more meant for racing. I would be too fast for my trails. I guess it all depends on what kind of trails you got.

It would be ok, the problem is that it revs to fast, and the lack of reverse might sneak up and bite you.

You might want to ask Scooter86 about this. We ride trails regularly and he's got a YFZ. I've never seen any issues but I can't speak to the comfort level, etc. on the trails. What I do know is that it seems to work pretty well. The lack of reverse isn't too bad -- reverse is more of a convience but not totally necessary.

I'm not sure what you mean by it has a different cooling system? Anyway, I HAVE had my fan run a lot once last summer when I got stuck behind a very slow group in the heat. Never have had an overheating problem though. My temp light has never come on either. These things are pretty good on the trails as long as you are willing to live with or upgrade a few things. The suspension is a little stiff, the seat is hard, and the engine would rather rev than lug. A good low end pipe and maybe gearing down for real tight trails is about all you would ever need. The '06 model has a bigger radiator if it is that big of a concern. There is plenty of power to tackle most any trail obstacle or hill, and the handling stock is just this side of perfect. In reality, if you are going to be doing a lot of leisurely riding where overheating may be a concern, you should probably look into a different model.
