Check the sending unit on the radiator and see if it works you can do this with a meter check it cold and hot also the coolant has to be all the way to the top or it wont reach the sensor I had this happen on my yfz Let us know what you find

Watch out takin it to other dealerships for warranty work, they usually don't like doing warranty work on it unless you bought it from their lot. I've had a dealership blantently tell me nothing was wrong when something was obviously making lots of noise and then get the nerve up to tell me to take it to the dealership it was purchased at to get anything done... well after alot of exchanged words I took it to the dealship I bought it at 50 miles away and they had the problem diagnosed and fixed in the same day...I hate stealerships!

Yup, that is why the dealer told me a couple of weeks (I assume since he asked)...since I didn't buy it from them. I wonder what Yamaha thinks about dealers treating customers this way? I bought mine about 2 hours from me so taking to that dealer is not really an option....it would be cheaper for me to replace the broken part then spend that much on fuel.

And the weather has been in the 70's so the light only comes on when going really slowly back in the woods for a while. It doesn't come on when moving at a faster pace this is why I belive it is a fan issue of some sorts.

When riding hard at the dunes my fan has come on a couple of times but the Light never came on.
I will have a Manual next week I'll see what I can figure out.

Here are the specs for the temp sensor

It must be checked at all 3 temps

1- 20 C (68 F) 2.32 - 2.59 k ohms
2- 80 C (176 F) 0.310 - 0.326 k ohms
3- 110 C (230 F) 0.140 - 0.144 k ohms

So what component actually tells the fan to turn on? I know the fan works since I tested it with power. I unplugged the temp sensor and made a jumper between the 2 conections; this caused the light to come on but still no fan. Is there a relay that could be bad or some other type of switch?

The 660 has two sending units, one for the light and one for the fan. Sorry I don't know if this holds true for the 700.

I have the same problem, but mine only happens when im just romping on it, going through water, and what not. I noticed that when i the light comes on I turn it off for about 5 minutes and it goes off. Like i said this only happens when i go through the water. When you go through water, that water gets on your heads and just heats it up big time. Also if you are in a lot of mudd then that will do it to.

I belive I have traced it down to be a bad relay. Thanks Air.
