I wouldn't even bother to take it out for cleaning or any other reason. After you spend all your time getting it out its going to look like crap from all the prying and hammering you have done on it. For those wanting to run with out the spark arrester it is not worth it you cant really notice any gains, when I took mine out with my air box mods I could not get it to run right even after jetting it several times. Go buy an after market exhaust and air box kit and jet it if you want more power. Just my 2 cents

use k&n power lid with insert that insert use 170/175 muni jets on 3rd needle clip with 2 and 3/4 turns out on air fuel screw at 0ft elivation to 2000ft it has worked perfect and when i had that i had noticable gains very noticable it was pulling wheellies shifting into second with me all the way upfront and in 3rd if i was sitting back a little didnt even have to pull up a big differance thats the same concept that HP. Reaserch uses for the ds650 there end cap makes more hp then any slip on pipe out there this is totaly woth the money and thet jetting will get it running sweet you may have to tweek the deedle a little for elivation but it should be right on the money
