if u run way to lean u can burn a hole in the pistion.. the yfz was made to run lean from factory to pass green sticker regulations also they restricted the exaust... after brake in period insall and exaust and rejet... after that it will wake the engine up... the header glows red cuz it is very lean... i recommend not to run the bike with the air lid off if u havent jet... more of a chance u can burn the piston... if seen that a lot a the shop... most of the time we still warrany the bike!

Wow really?
I hope I never have to take it to the shop for a waranty deal like that.

When I first saw my pipe glowing I definitly got spooked , but as I'm reading it seems to be pretty common .

I will get a new tailpipe and jets when I get rich later...for now it will be bone stock (except for the Holeshots XC's)

Stock bikes have beeen very good to me .

continue braking it in... it does no harm to the bike just keep the intake box lid on to be safe... u will se it come alive when u install a jet kit and exhaust.

Sigh.......you are not lean!!!!!!!! It's probably your 1st real high performance 4-stroke with an un-painted header. All CRF, YZ-F, RMX, & KXF dirtbikes do the same thing at an idle. You can jet the thing as rich as you want & you'll still have a glowing header!
