filter retention for raptor?

The instruction sheet states at the very top of the instructions
"YOU MUST HAVE AN AFTERMARKET AIRBOX MODIFICATION THAT HOLDS THE AIR FILTER IN PLACE TO USE THIS KIT!!!!!!"
I don't know anyone who has used an outerwear so I figured something else is needed to keep the the filter in place to avoid ruining the outerwear and allowing water and debris to get in. If it is durable I have no problem with running it like you said, but none the less I'm interested to see what options there are.

Dowery,
The stock retention system blows, so does the stock filter. Get yourself a Pro Design manifold, o-ring sealed and bolted to the airbox and a uni or K&N filter. Then you have a good filter attachment to the airbox.

Get yourself a pro-design intake like someone else said.

I think hes talking about the outerwears airbox cover(the one that velcros ontop of the box), not the lid with the outerwears in the middle.
Get yourself a pro-design intake like someone else said.

Pro-design if you're keeping the airbox, L&A adaptor if you're not.

Yup, velcro it is. I'm the polar opposite of Maddog 'cause I did not realize there was a different lid. Anyways, I do plan on changing the intake at some point, but for now or at least until spring, I am gonna keep the box hooked up because of weather.

drill a small hole through the top of the filter flange and the air box, then put a bolt with a lock washer and nut on it and tighten it up. That will hold the filter in place and keep a good seal also. I still have a little of my stock air box left, I made a (G-string out of a pair of shorts) to compare how much I cut away from the stock box and I bolted it up like above states and it works perfect. I live and ride in the desert so I just threw an outer wear on the filter and I'm good, but I never see mud or water where I ride, just dust. But a bolt will fix you up for cheap untill you get a new intake.

I used a self tapping screw on the stock filter. I still dont think that the gasket with that K&N drop in is good enough to prevent any dust from getting into the engine, but it is a cheap way to do it. When you get the $, buy the pro design intake.
