Extended Raptor Swingarm for desert?
#11
Nope my JE piston has held up very good, it's been in there since last April and has out lasted 2 heads. It also survived a cylinder full off coolant when the first head got a hole in the water jacket of the intake runner(too much porting). If you get an extended swinger you will love it in the desert as long as you stay under +2. It will help out tons in the big whoops and it makes it more stable. I have ridden a raptor with a +2 extention on the stocker before it broke, and it did handle alot better than my stock set up.

warwgn,
I love the cinders. You are welcome to camp with our group anytime. We usually go mem day, the 4th and labor day.
Thanks for the advise on the +2. I was thinking that I may not want more than that. Also, I was considering the extender.

I just did the Turkey Creek ride from Black Canyon City up to Cleator, you ever try that one? Total ball buster. I don't know if you have gone up the back side of Lake Pleasant to Crown King lately but that ride has gotten way worse than I have ever seen with last winter's rains.

I have heard about the Black Canyon to Cleator ride. I have never tried it. I need to put that on my to do list.

an extender would be a cheaper way to see if you like it or not, I got hooked up on my Janssen swinger, I got it for free!!! They are $699.00 but they are beefy as hell, I still need to get the rear shock re-done befor I put it on but I am getting an axel first so it will be early next year before I get around to gathering up all the chain guides and sprockets and new chain and bearings and braided brake line and rebuilt shock, then after all that I can throw it on and put the G-force axel in it and I will be ready to race hard.
I went to the cinders in 2003 when all I had was a pipe and filter and loved it I couldnt make 100 dollar hill on the raptor and my TT600 couldnt keep the front down with the paddle on it(should hve brought the knobbie tire too) Now that I have the rappy built I am ready to own that hill. I will see what our race schedule brings this year but I am sure I can gather up a few of the team and head out for some hill climbing fun.

The Tucker pro is now ProSportATV. They have an ad in the back of the December 05 ATVSport magazine and their website is www.prosportatv.com. I know it works because I just went there.
They now call the swingarm the Xtreme Pro Arm Series.
You can even get your swinger cryo treated.

Now with the Craycraft motor, I doubt if there is any hill I can't climb. I really want to try 500 dollar. (even though they closed it)

One more swing arm question for the Raptor. THIS IS FOR THE DUNES:
How much longer does the swing arm have to be for raptor to slide out in a turn when you add power in the sand rather than the front end pop up? ( I hate that )
I am already +5 on the width.
Will +2 do it on the swingarm?

no it matter what sand tires you run, if you run v's you'll slide way better than starights and seom v's hook up less than others you want crappy ones to let you slide. and just throttle out.
