Default Keeping Up

MY new friend has a YFZ450 that can't catch up with a 2004 Raptor in the trails. The YFZ450 would fall back, especially in the turns. The Raptor is highly customized. It goes wicked fast, but also does the YFZ450. I don't know specifically what mods they have, but The Raptor does not have engine mods like the YFZ450. The YFZ450 is bored out to a 470. Is it just because the YFZ450 was made for the track? Does the YFZ450 have less torque than Raptor cause this? They are both pretty good riders.

If the raptor has extensive suspension changes then it would make a little sense, but in all reality the rider of the raptor must be a lot better in comparison. A 470 yfz is nothing to scoff at, especially if you're running a bolt on raptor. Torque is important and the raptor has more of it in stock trim, but I'd imagine the modified yfz is awfully close to the bolt on raptor in torque output, if not higher.

Seems like it would be the other way around. The raptor I ride with in the trails can't even stay close, everytime you gas it on a raptor the front end comes up, thats mainly what slows it down.

OK. I'm back. He wasn't home, but his mom let me in the pole barn (I guess she didn't trust me because she went with me and waited until I was done). The mods I saw on the exterior was a full HMF pipe (so probably jetted), elka shocks all over, holeshot XC tires. I also saw an edelbrock carb, proflow, and a new clutch cover (I think he might have gotten a new GYT-R clutch). He has other non performance parts such as Pro Alum nerfs, handcovers, new grab bars and a blingstar front bumper, black maier plastics, and etc...
