Who is this Captain Craycraft?

Well after blowing up my raptor my dad is thinking about getting er' fixed. He said i can't go over $850 which is the estimate my dealer gave me to get it fixed back to stock. But i wanna lil bit more bang for my buck Well i keep reading about the infamous captain craycraft. And his monster 760 kits. What is one of those gonna set me back? And with stock gearing what kinda of speeds are we talkin here. If any one has any numbers on torque of h.p. specs those would be greatly appreciated.

Well to me, Bob Craycraft is the king at building Raptor engines. Check out the link below for contact info and his online store. His kits are gonna set you back alittle more than $850, better start saving now..

The only guy I know that is referred to as "Captain" is Captain Carl, but that's a story in and of itself.
I dont know if I think Bob is the King, but he and his shop does excellent work. It's definately worth looking into an aftermarket builder like Craycraft, Kenz, Mad Racing, Sparks, Barker, or the like instead of paying a dealer to turn your bike back to stock for the same price.

Depends on wht you blew up! But if a dealer is quoting you 850 for a repair then it probally isnt that bad, spend 35 bucks buy a service manual, fork out 40 bucks for a metric tool kit, 30 bucks for a torque wrench, then spend the rest on your 686 kit. You can get the piston kit for aroung 250 and the same with the cam if you want to go with the stage 2 and heavy springs. you can get the cylinder bored for around 50 anywhere and a good valve job for about 80 bucks. That would leave you about 115 for gaskets and lubes and other odds and ends. Your done 686 in affect. Dont be scared to do it yourself it's not hard at all, assembly is nothing it's the machine work that's the most important, and setting the ring gap.

When i got my raptor back all my riding buddys were calling my Raptor overzealous and calling Bob Captain Craycraft i thought it was kinda catchy so i call him Captain Craycraft but I woulnt take your bike anywhere else, i thought mine was trashed from the dealers build they put on it, but not only did Captain Craycraft fix the obvious problems but he also fixed alot of little things that the dealer LEFT OUT or **** poorly did (LIKE SILICONED BOLTS THAT ARE SUPPOSED TO BE LOCK TITED) ..... but in my experience I think ur getting what u are paying for when u get a Craycraft build.
Just got my 760 broken in gonna change the oil and set the valves this weekend, and ill see what happens at full throttle.

When i was 14 i rebuilt the topend of my z 400 so doing it myself is noproblem. The $850 was for the price of the parts. Not including labor. So i expect it would be around $1,000 or so. For me a 686 kit just won't do. I want something with close to 70h.p. or so. Right now b 4 i blew it up i think it had around 46-49h.p. which was a joke. I have 2 choices, the raptor getting fixed or looking in the traders guide for a used yz 250. I think I might be able to scratch about another $400 out of my parents for christmas and my 17th birthday. Do you think this new monster will be able to stay stable at high speeds on gravel and dirt with some wheel spacers?

For the little bit that shipping costs, I would never let a dealership or local wrench work on my Raptor. After seeing the insides of so many Raptor motors, Craycraft knows how to make them reliable. You can't buy that kind of experience anywhere else.
