Definately need to change the exhaust, those stockers are power robbers big time. New pipes, intake and jetting and you should take the 450r. And just because you change the exhaust it doesn't mean that it has to be loud, just bolt up quiet silencers. And personally I would run a UNI filter, not K&N.

Butt i like K&N better i think they flow a little better than UNI, But you just have to clean and oil and K&N all the time.

You need fmf pipes, boyseen reeds, bored carbs, adjustable timimg plate,kn air filter, and a new impellar. With these mods you will be able to take any four stroke, and keep up with the other banshees

Funny you say that, because right now it is in my garage, broke down. We think he sucked something up in a carb but not sure yet. But yeah they dont seem to be as reliable after you start doing a whole bunch to them. I could be wrong though.

Look at the "Q" series FMF silencers to keep noise down. Here's the link. FMF Q Series

The stock intake will work just fine and a new impellar will help with cooling. Vito's makes a good impellar that is reasonably priced, go to their website.

Well I've got a 'shee with a fairly inexpensive port job(250 bucksW shipping),pro circuits, k&n pods, and razr tires, and I finally got a chance to race a 450r(Baffle removed, jets, filter).Well, I took off in 2nd at wot, and fell behind by about a length(even though those 450's take off real quick, with more practice I'm confident I'll get the jump)anyway,by the time I hit 4th,I passed him like he was on a 300ex.You don't really need the porting, tho. My podna had fatties,k&n,and....heck that's it, and he's beating 450's all day.BUT, he can really ride.It has a LOT to do with rider skill and getting a good takeoff. If you have good pipes and jetted right, you're going to ketch him eventually, just don't fall behind too bad at the start, or he'll make you look bad.But once you get that takeoff right(2nd gear, full throttle and the right body positioning),he'll be suckin exhaust.

An impellar is used to pump coolant, it is located in the side case, on the side of the brake. It really helps the bike run cooler.
