Raptor 660 vs. Raptor 700r
#1
I was just wondering if there is a noticeable performance difference between the 660 and 700. I was looking at specs and the 700 had a slightly bigger bore and fuel injection, other than that the 700 was pretty much a 660. I just wanted to know if I should go with a new 700 or go for a stock used 660 and use the money I save for performance mods.

there is definatly a difference between them the 700r is a seriously sweet ride it's alot quicker than my piped 04 660 i got ,i'm having the looney tuned dual fitted to my 700 in january, which i think is going to make impossible to keep the front end down ,it's lighter than the 660,handles like it is on rails ,i would defo go for the 700 ride stock for a while until you can save up for mods the mod, but even stock you'll be running with the best of the big boys

Well, i have a few things to say about powerwise.Nothing about handling or n e thing like that. Now, a piped 660 will def take a stock 700 for god sakes. With some pipes the 660 will take the 700 mod for mod. Now, stock the 700 is a bit farther ahead of the 660, but that is what improving the 660 is now huh? They wanted it to be a better quad out of the factory, we all know that and that is completely understandable.A better comparison would be putting a 686 kit is the 660 so it would have the same cc.Then the 660 would blow it out of the water piped, fuel management, air filter, etc.But handling wise.....NO COMMENT...lol....i hate bashing my own quad but the 700 beats the hell outa the 660 handling wise.If you think about it, the 660 is actually a faster bike than the 700.The 700 is a 686, and like i said before, if you equalled the 2 out to a 686's, the 660 would eat it.But yea...if you want a quad that is super fun to ride, and fast from the factory, the 700r is the way to go.If you wanted a quad to put money into, then you would have a debate

If you let either breathe better, for most riders, there is more power than you will ever need. I was just at the dunes with a friend of mine and he had a stock 700 Raptor. I waited for him or found him after loosing him without any problem. It's the rider for most of us and not the machine. Don't get me wrong, with the choice of the new 700 or the old 660, I would take the 700. I put alot of money into mine widening it out for a more stable ride and ultimately be a faster rider.
I was impressed with the stock 700's handling but wasn't blown away by the power. The fuel injection is definitely a convenience I would like to have on mine.

It is my guess that if you where to have a 700 that has pipe, intake, and ecu it would still get beat by a piped, jetted, intake 686cc kit raptor 660. I am pretty sure guys with 686's are making more that 49-50 horse which is what the 700 is making with those mods. THat is of course in a straight line, and there is so many reasons why the 700 is a MUCH better quad then its older counterpart. I am thoroughly enjoying mine, and like it much better than my old 660!
