Exhaust glowing red???

Default Exhaust glowing red???

I noticed last night will adjusting pilot screw that my exhaust pipe leaving the motor was orange it was so hot. Is this normal? If not what’s wrong?

Well your a little lean. your getting to much air and not enough gas. If the quad is stock you need to go back to your stock setting on your pilot screw.

jbone,what kind of 4wheeler do u have? i have heard of YFZ,s doing this from the factory.if thats what u have?

it's a 96 Wolverine. just bought it and its giving me hell trying to get it tuned. I would be mad but I got a good deal on it.

what other mods does it have? aftermarket pipe,cam,air filter

it has a aftermarket air filter (think it's a Uni-filter) no other mods that I know of.

If all it has is has is a uni filter you should get it right with the air screw. But if not here is what you do. If it is doing it idleing go one size up on your poilet jet. And if it is doing it while you are rideing you need to go up one size on your main jet. Or you can do both to be safe.
( Its always better to be a little rich on your jets than it is to be lean.) If you are lean you take a chance of burning a hole in the pistion.

thanks for the help. I think I'll try replacing the pilot jet. the carb was real dirty when I got and I'm not sure the jet is all the way clean replacing it will probally be best. besides one more carb tear down/cleaning can't hurt. after all this will only be the 4th time [img]i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif[/img]
