I recently purchased a new Raptor 700R the other week and I was hoping someone could answer a few questions for me. I have been on quads for a long time before but this is my first high performance quad that I have owned. I am more aware about utility atvs. So anyway, some questions about this new raptor are as follows:
1. Within the first few hours of riding my new raptor the temperature light had come on. I immediately turned off the motor. I quad is new so I was not driving it hard at all. I had just stopped and it was idling for a little while. However, I dont remember if the fan was running because I turned the quad off quickly. Has anyone had problems with the new 700R overheating. I live in Pennsylvania and it is cool up here at the moment so I was surprised that the light came on. Does anybody think there is something wrong. Could this cause damage. I only happened one time.
2. When riding at night I noticed that the header coming off the motor becomes red hot. Again I have only been giving half throttle and not running it hard. My buddy has a 660 and he says he never noticed it on his even when riding it for long periods of time. Even at night when it is below freezing, I start the quad and within a few minutes the pipes are red. Does anyone have an explaination for me.
